We had two points of interest this week – Hurricane Florence and Logan’s getting on the bus.
The hurricane was a non-event in our area, unlike the flooding in eastern North Carolina. We noticed one 10-mile-per-hour gust of wind that lasted 30 seconds. Big whoop! One full day of steady rain made Jonathan Creek rise. I was texting with friend Karen when John walked in and asked if I wanted to drive to the creek. We rushed there and took a few shots to share with her. Karen is one who usually walks to the creek with us when she is here, so she had a vested interest in it. We caught the water at its highest point.
John checked the rain gauge when we were sure all the rain was over. Despite being warned that we would have 10 to 20 inches of rain, we could muster only 4.
A video clip of our street at 7:40 would show everyone converging at the bus stop. We try to time our walk to be there, and Marla comes out with dog Albert. Logan jumps out of his car, not so much to join us, as to run circles around us. In the photo, Logan had already greeted us at Marla’s driveway and run onto the neighbor’s lawn around the telephone pole.

Logan circled around to pet Albert as we began to talk to Bob in the car. There was a pause as we watched the boy leap onto the bus, and we scattered as quickly as we gathered. Another day was off to its proper start.
I just love how everyone congregates for a blur sighting each day!

So glad you have good reports from the storm. wish everyone east of you could say the same. Goodness…what a mess some have to deal with.
Logan seem to be a bright spot.

I, too, wish the victims of Hurricane Florence had not suffered. Recovery will not be instant.

Glad to hear you safely weathered the storm. That Logan is a mess! Is Albert a Chow? it’s hard to tell from the picture.

I’ve heard Marla say what Albert is, but I don’t remember. I’m sorry. I’ll try to remember to ask.

I got the low-down this morning. Albert is a German Spitz. Lately he has been begging to get in Bob’s car to sniff for food. Both Bob and Marla laugh about the vacuuming capabilities of the dog.

I think all breeds are natural Hoovers, lol! 🤣

I’ve never heard of a German Spitz, good to know!

So glad the storm kept away from you. Logan is his own little gale force wind and as unpredictable as a hurricane though much less destructive.

Glad you were spared the worst. We got rain out of Florence but not as much as you. It was just an excuse to have two more dreary days although it’s clearing up now. Fingers crossed for the rest of the week. Logan is like a puppy you have to tire him out! 🙂

I’m glad you got only rain from Florence. We rarely see Logan tired, even at the end of the day. I’ll bet weariness would show on his parents’ faces!

So glad you were unscathed by Florence … your circle pictures were interesting. I’ve never seen that done before. Logan is full of energy – did you figure out a new place to hide the granola bars?

Today I hid the bar against a coffee machine on the kitchen counter. He found it quickly.

Florence gives way to Logan. Everything looks so green in the pictures- I am so envious. Glad there are places to meet and greet neighbours still in the world. That is your highlight of the day and your day starts just right, if the meeting takes place, doesn;t it ?

We all met up together this morning. Soon the sun will change enough that we won’t be walking at the right time. Then day savings time will come in, which will mess us up again. We’ll enjoy our gatherings as long as they last.

I’m happy to hear you were unaffected by Florence. Right now we could use about 4 inches of rain. It doesn’t seem that there is much balance in the weather. It’s either too much or not enough. Oh well, as I always remind my husband “we can’t control the weather”.

We are very blessed. The flooding is still very serious in the eastern part of the state.

What wonderful way to start your day. In Southern NJ, we fared pretty well too, although I think areas north of us weren’t as lucky. My sister in High Point had one tree come down, but it didn’t do damage.

You sure dodged a bullet, as they say. Although 4 INCHES (?!) of rain sounds like a LOT. I guess it gets absorbed quickly in the earth, grass etc….?

Some rain soaked into the ground, and some ran into the creek. We didn’t have floods or mud slides. We were blessed!
