Boosting the Doorbell

Two times recently I would have missed people at my front door if I hadn’t been just a few feet away. I’ve had this doorbell for a couple of years and never made it perform well. Do you do that kind of thing? Do you have a mental list of little jobs that never get done? Maybe I’m just small-minded.

I looked at the list of sounds the device could make. Westminster chimes were out, because the clock has dibs on that. There were 10 choices of Christmas melodies that I failed to use in December. Then there were the things that I’d never consider like Thursday Night Football, Dogs Barking, and Charge! My eyes lit up when I saw Train Whistle. That’s the one for this house! John would have gotten a kick out of that. I know, because he was delighted that our phones rang the sound of a steam engine. The doorbell version is more like a Lionel model train. It lacks the music of live steam, but it will get my attention.
