Daughter Lise is staying for three weeks, and we began the visit with our customary meal at Culver’s. This restaurant, known for frozen custard, is near the airport. We all adore their Concrete Mixer – frozen custard mixed with two additions of your choice. You can add fruit, bits of chocolate, various candies, Brownie bites, or syrups.
Lise made an emergency visit to a shoe store, looking for pull-on sneakers. She is going to have a hip replaced, and because of the damaged joint, she cannot tie her left shoe. What luck! She found shoes she loves on the last day the store was open. The next day they were closed for several weeks for remodeling.
Here is a different view of Jonathan Creek. I am not able to walk to the creek right now, but we ate at a barbecue place upstream from my usual destination. I hope you can see the creek from Lise’s shoulder to David’s chin.
We began moving furniture back on the front porch after 2/3 of it was painted. When the sun goes down, it is usually quite pleasant to sit there.
Logan suggested a fast-paced game of Rat Race. As an observer, I realized the game was really heating up when both Lise and Logan stood up to play. I doubt they realized the camera was aimed at them. Even if they did, they are used to it.

What fun. Great that Lise is there for a visit.

I’m not a regular visitor, but I always enjoy your posts when I’m able to see them! What a fun family time! I hope her hip surgery goes well. I’ve become a fan of Culver’s recently. My parents and I had a shake at Steak and Shake a couple of days ago. I love the rat race game too! Such great memories and fun!

Thanks for reading and commenting. Isn’t Culver’s great? I just tried their pot roast sandwich.
If there is a Steak and Shake place in my area, I haven’t seen it.

You’re welcome! I’ll have to try the roast sandwich-yum! I think Steak and Shake is local to Springfield, MO (But I’m wrong quite often, lol)!

I’ve seen Steak and Shake while traveling, but I wouldn’t remember locations.

I’ve never heard of that game, but it looks like fun!
I’ve also never had a frozen custard, I’ve become very fond of gelato though!
Did Lise get Sketchers slip ons? They are very comfortable from what I’ve heard. It was very cool to hear their voices! I’ve never watched any of your videos with sound that I can remember. I hope if and when we visit, I get to see everyone you mention frequently in your posts!

Yes, Lise bought Sketcher’s slip ons.
I always try to mute the videos, because often the comments are not on subject.
I’d love you to meet my neighbors.

Will Lise be stateside for her surgery then? Enjoy your time together! How’s your sciatica doing? Are you improving? Hope so!😘

Lise will have her hip replaced in Denmark where she has medical coverage. I can’t imagine paying for that here!
I’m still struggling with sciatica, mostly lack of sleep. I sleep well until pain wakes me up. I can’t get back to sleep, so I get up and read comments and blogs.

Are you able to do any of the “hip opener” exercises laying in bed? Those did help me a little. Sometimes I just had to get up and walk about 200 steps, and that sometimes helped, also turning the bed on (we have a heated mattress pad). Nothing consistently helped, but one of them often did. Sometimes I just gave up and took an ibuprofin. You may have heard of all of these, but just in case….😀

I appreciate all suggestions. Walking in the middle of the night helps me, too. I haven’t been taking any pain killers, because they usually don’t help me very much. Might be time to try again.

From what I understand, some things work well for awhile, then not as much, and some not at all. It’s a weird thing!

I hope she comes through that surgery well and can enjoy walking pain free again. The custard blend has made me hungry. Perhaps I should have eaten lunch already.

We have Culvers in our area but I have only been a couple of times and forget to save room for dessert. Maybe we should go sometime just for dessert. 🙂 I never heard of that card game but it looks like they were having fun.

Yes! Go just for dessert!
