After she drove away, Lise and I walked to the stop sign. Because Kate enjoyed spotting rabbits on our walks, I took a picture of one we saw just minutes after she left.
That afternoon we went to the installation of my new pastor. Lise had been at Concordia College Bronxville at the same time he was there. She remarked later that she would have recognized his face from Facebook. As soon as he spoke during the service, she remembered his voice from decades ago.

So beautiful photography. Beautiful photo of Kate drive the car.

It took her about 15 hours to drive home. She did the trip in one day!! I would never have done that, even at her age.

What did you drink, Anne? I wouldn’t figure you for a beer girl.
I know you hate goodbyes, but at last you ended the day on a positive note!

I love the picture of the two sisters. I looked back at some of the photos from your time in England to see how much they have changed. (not that much)

What a shame Kate doesn’t live closer (and Lise of course), you make a great team.So glad you had a reason to go out rather than feeling her gone. Huge Hugs

It’s our fault that Kate is far away, since we were the ones who moved. Eventually she hopes to move down here.

Anne,
15 hours in one day ??? Hard to believe; we guess she REALLY wanted to get home!!! Very happy she made it safely. 😊

That’s a sweet bunny. I’d be enamored too. 🙂 I know you enjoyed the visit with both the girls. Now you have Lise until the end of the month if I remember correctly. David was the thorn among the roses, but he didn’t mind. 🙂

That’s great Anne. I’m sure Lise is not anxious to get back as her hip surgery awaits her.

How long was your previous pastor there? In your denomination do you call a new one or is one chosen for you? Is the transition challenging?

I don’t know how long the previous pastor was here — maybe 10 to 15 years. Missouri Synod Lutherans call a pastor, usually from a list of suggestions from higher up. The retiring pastor wanted us to have a smooth transition and helped get things rolling. We have three retired pastors who are very active, and one volunteered to be the pastor for several months. Worked out well .

That is very sane. The transitions can be difficult. Here one of the priests sent our way really doesn’t understand that our congregation is warm and emotive.

The system seems to work well. If there are problems with it, I haven’t heard about them.
