Chrissie and Chris

At the end of their vacation, niece Chrissie and Chris came for a couple of days. We lived on the porches, talking non-stop. Here daughter Lise poses with them.

A bit later, neighbor Shawn joined us.

I liked the perspective of this photo and the next. I took this as the neighborhood reporter. All the faces were showing as they played Logan’s game.

Meanwhile, Shawn stayed on the porch where we had both been sitting and captured this image. Her artist’s eye caught the warmth of the scene, with the candle outside and the people drawn together inside.

The next day Chris put the finishing touch on the waterfall. Last year my brother and I installed a new pump and hose to get the water flowing. Chris hooked the hose up to the splitter, so that water flowed into the two top pools. The sound was even better than before. He and Lise solved the leak problem where the last fall had a back flow. The next step is mine – to remove the weeds that exploded while I was spending time inside with relatives. The final step will be replacing surrounding stones to hide the edges of the pools.

  1. Beautiful you sharing playing Logan’s game photo. Spending time with those we love is what really counts. Wonderful photoshoot.

  2. Anne, such warmth and love surrounds you all. The photo from outside to you all inside is especially touching! Wow! How lovely to have a waterfall in the garden and may it bring you much peace and joy! Good luck with the weeds, they seem very stubborn this year and we’ve just come back after a long break in Sweden to weeds galore – best get my gardening gloves out! 😀

    1. John and our two grandsons built the waterfall for me seven or eight years ago. It needed work before he died, so we are getting it in order now. We hear and see the water falling as we eat on the porch. It’s wonderful to have it working again.

    1. You’d be welcome on my porch ANY time. We’d have a great time together. I must say that COVID sparked more porch sitting than anything else. We’re more in the habit of it now. During the summer, Logan’s family sits on their porch after breakfast almost every day. They occasionally call out to me as I’m coming back from a morning walk, and I sit with them for a while. It’s delightful.

      1. When I was a kid, all the neighbors sat on their front porches. My parents lived in a twin with a big porch across both units. After dinner, neighbors would congregate there until dusk or the mosquitoes, whichever happened first. Those were good times. Except for your “hood”, neighbors don’t do that anymore. Most have patios in the back for privacy!
