We invited family friend Brittainy (Brit) to live in our spare bedroom for a while. Grandson David opened the door as she began to bring in her things. I didn’t realize she was in the house until I heard her beautiful laugh down the hall. Her laugh is musical and so pleasing to the ear.
Brit knew I was struggling to deal with my iPad and offered to help. I knew little more than how to turn it on and off. She quickly taught me several vital things like how to get to instructions and tips and how to close open apps. I thought that was enough to remember for one session, but I did mention that I hadn’t been able to use a wireless foot-operated page turner daughter Lise gave me. It is for turning pages in the music app. I had tried to pair it to the app several times, with no success. In less than five minutes, Brit handed the turner to me, held the pad up with music displayed, and had me push the button to turn pages. Impressive!! I will use it for real when I play today.
Yeah! A perfect match for you both! It is so amazing how much we can continue to learn from those who are willing to help. I will look forward to your post on how it goes for you!

The foot pedal was awkward at first and will be until I’m used to it. It’s a fun gadget, though.

Ok, Brit needs to move in with me for a week! When the grands were here, it was such a whirlwind that they didn’t get to teach me anything!

Always great to have a young person around to teach us new techy things. One of the things I miss about working in an office. The younger staff were always teaching me new tricks on the computer.

That office camaraderie was great. The young accountants taught me a lot about using Excel spreadsheets.

Aww, that’s awesome, Anne! Don’t you do your blog from the iPad? If not, maybe she can help with that too! That’s where I work from. Just get the WordPress or I guess now it’s the Jetpack app.

Using the iPad for blogging would be daunting. Do you have a keyboard for yours? I write on a desktop and a laptop, but I often read posts on my phone. It’s fairly quick to swipe words, though it’s dangerous. The phone makes substitutions with words that make no sense. Dictating is even faster and more prone to mistakes.

I do have a keyboard but it’s for the laptop.
It was a learning experience to get good at blogging from my iPad but it’s easier now to me than messing with the laptop and dragging everything out. We have limited space, so I make do with the space I have. ☺️
Daves laptop is set up all the time, so I just do my stuff my Way, lol.

When I come visit you, I’ll try to show you a few tips.
If we don’t get on the road in time due to our health issues, I may have to wait til Spring to get up there. Dave’s procedure takes a few follow ups, so it’s not looking good for a trip up. We may go east down the coast instead and winter in Fla and then come up. I’ll keep you posted 🤗

I was advised to charge rent, and that is our agreement. For me, this is like having a best friend in residence.

How nice of you to invite Brit to live at your house – Southern hospitality for sure even if she is a family friend. Already Brit is reciprocating with tech help. Youngsters know much more in the tech world than I ever will.

On another note – did Lise have her hip replacement yet? I know you said she was traveling for a bit after her visit with you.

I think she will have her hip replaced in December. She plans to be here for Thanksgiving.

I remember you said she was going to travel a bit after visiting this Summer. That’s great Lise is returning for Thanksgiving … then the big surgery, although hip replacements are much easier these days than when my mom had her two. My friend Ann Marie had her hip replaced in the morning (11:00 a.m.) and came home that evening! She was worried about leaving her husband alone too long as he falls sometimes (he is 90 and in frail health), so the doc did the surgery at a small hospital (also to avoid the risk of Covid/flu/RSV) and home in the evening. Then a friend visited her at home and brought Covid along with chicken soup.

Yes it was Anne and poor Ann Marie, who never gets mad at anything, was pretty angry that her friend came to “help” and brought Covid, after having remained unscathed all this time, especially when her husband got COVID early on in the pandemic and was hospitalized for many weeks due to his COPD.

Brit showed me how to find several things on the iPad, and she made the page turner work. I can play a page of music, tap the gadget, and the next page of music is displayed.
