Arlene, a dear blog friend in Manila, the Philippines, has a post titled, “What are you most proud of in your life?” Her response to this question was full of wisdom, and you can read it here.
I laughed at the first thing that came to my mind – being the organist at church for 25 years. It had nothing to do with my musicianship. I was proud of the fact that I was never, ever late for a service. As I wrote in a comment, we had two services most Sundays plus special ones for Lent, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. I estimated that I was proud of being prompt over 2,850 times.
Me? That I was Salutatorian of my Woodhull graduating class and was elected to the English Department Honor Society at Adelphi U.

Those are worthy things to be proud of.

I laughed, because it’s a very common spelling of my name.

Everyone could be on time getting to work. I’ll admit the pressure was on. It would have been embarrassing to have 50 to 100 people looking back at the organ, wondering where I was.

The organist’s being late would have been noticed.

I love this!
(But I heard enough of your musicianship when I was visiting Messiah, to know you’re being way too modest here.)

Thank you for those kind words.

That’s amazing as is the fact that you did the math to figure (estimate) how many non-tardy services you attended. 🙂

I used 50 regular Sundays as a base, since I had two Sundays off every year. I know I failed to count several of the non-Sunday ones, because most churches have stopped having them now.

That fact that you are always sharp in punctuality really strikes a chord with me…. A major accomplishment that you never fell flat on – bar none 😉
(Too much?? 😆)

It was NATURAL for me, not ACCIDENTAL. I BASS that on the TENOR of the times. I was part of the STAFF, after all, not TEMPOrary. Can’t BEAT that.
Love punning with you! I will REFRAIN from saying more.

That is admirable, indeed. I seem to even remember you showing up on some snowy days when it was only family and the pastor. You should be super proud!

Thank you. On snowy days, I’d have to be proud of John for getting me to church on time. I didn’t think to share the pride!

Very interesting you sharing words of proud!

I think most of us are proud of ourselves for something, even if it is a bit silly.

That is certainly something to be proud of. I guess I’m proud of writing and publishing ten books, something I would have never imagined happening!

Good for you Anne, that truly is an accomplishment! I have a proud moment, not of me but of my girls. They were the the concertmaster and the principal cellist of the South Dakota All State Orchestra two years in a row, (the first and only time that 2 siblings have that .) I still remember the feeling when the results came up, and it’s been almost 15 years!
