One of the cashiers called grandson David over to meet Cowboy and his pet squirrel. The celebrity shops at the supermarket where David works, so many of the staff had already met him. This is the same character that daughter Lise and I met in the waiting room of a doctor’s office. He always encourages people to have their picture taken with the pet squirrel on their shoulder. I thought David did well with his selfies.

good thing it was a Racoon!

How cool is that!! I’m surprised they let him bring an animal into the grocery store.

The squirrel went with him into the doctor’s office, too.

I love squirrels. I feed the birds, squirrels also, every day, a mix of bird seed with about half a dozen or more peanuts on the top. The squirrels have to be quick and scramble down the pine trees to get their treats, the blue jays are incredibly fast at grabbing them if they spot them first.

And the seed race is on!!

I wish I’d meet up with Cowboy sometime. 🙂 David has a new job or BK is now in a mall?

David has a new job in a supermarket as a bookkeeper. He is liking it so far

That’s great … I think David’s degree was in accounting and finance if I remember correctly?

Maybe David’s degree was business.

OK, well that works well for this job – for some reason I thought it was accounting – mixing it up with the firm you worked for I guess.

David said he likes working with money. He counts the money in the cash drawers throughout his shift. A machine actually counts the cash, then he makes sure the total is correct. Sometimes the cashiers forget to write a note that they’ve gotten cash for change or sold lottery tickets.

Well he was a shoe-in for that job, counting money … between the degree and all the years working the drive-thru. I’ve not been to BK in a while – maybe they don’t do money and handle the food at the same place.

David handled money at both the drive-through and the front counter. I’m sure he is happy to no longer deal with hungry customers.

And now David will have a more regular schedule, like 9-5. You said he often closed so had late hours.

Golly! Who would have thought a bookkeeper’s hours would be David’s ideal? He works 3pm to midnight! I’ve begun getting used to it, but I often see him for about 20 minutes a day while he eats dinner at 2.

Hmm – well I just assumed of course that it was a 9-5 job. Of course grocery stores are open 24 hours a day anymore. So now you see him less than you did before!

David’s days off are a bit irregular, so I’ve not totally adjusted to his changes.
