Distant Snow

David and I were getting excited about a forecast of eight inches of snow. It sounded too good to be true, so I looked at the details. As I suspected, the accumulation would be above 3,000 feet. Going to the stop sign, I was heading away from the mountain view. I didn’t see the snow until I was coming back at the top of our street. There it was, whitening the mountain top.

An hour later this is what showed from my bedroom deck. Real snow with no mess!

Want to see daughter Lise in party mode? She is back in Denmark and had gone out with a friend, who took this photo. She is making the most of time until the 20th, when she will have a hip replaced.

    Lovely looking at the snow from after, just the way I like it.
    Lise looks lovely, I guess her surgery will be there in Denmark? I thought she’d be home with you?

  7. Maybe Gravity will lend a hand and make the snow slide down the mountain towards you in time for Christmas. All my very best to Lise with the Hip-Hop, perhaps she can get home to recuperate?

  8. Snow from afar is nicer than shoveling it or walking through it – it’s very pretty on the mountaintops. Well, Lise is enjoying her Christmas festivities early as she’ll not be in a Christmas mood right after the surgery. Good luck to Lise on her impending surgery and her “store-bought hip” (which you’ll recall my mom used to refer to it as and I mentioned it when you wrote of your knee replacements).

  9. I get the feeling Anne that you do not get much snow where you are? I grew up with snowbanks much taller than me.
    Since moving out west, we do not much snow but when we do get it I always enjoy it….even If riding a bike in it is tricky!

    1. I had more snow in New York than here. Snow in North Carolina is easy to live with. It hardly ever stays on the ground more than a few hours. I feel I should get more, since I’m in the mountains.

      I’ll tell Lise you are sending good wishes. She said today that she was working on her last big project before the surgery. After the operation, she plans to organize thousands of travel photos.
