For months I have attended my church in Asheville via live-streaming. Unlike the disheveled church-attenders pictured in cartoons, I was ALWAYS prepared for worship. I showered and dressed for the day before turning on the computer. I was unfed and un-coffeed. This first Sunday living alone was no different. What shocked me was the volume of my singing. I let loose and sang as if I were in church. Who knew I had kept quiet to avoid disturbing grandson David and put the damper on to protect Chrissie’s ears? I made a joyful noise to the Lord. He accepted the loud praise graciously, I presume. For the record, Kacey didn’t howl.
The temperature shocked me when I was ready to have lunch around 3 in the afternoon. It was 70 F (21.11 C)! The table on the porch was dirty, but it was a joy to clean it up for warm dining. Neighbor Logan came over to visit while I was eating. I was having my leftovers from a Mexican restaurant, which happened to be where Logan had eaten lunch. He had peanut butter and crackers while keeping me company.
Logan asked if I’d like for his mother to come porch sit when she woke from her nap. I was thrilled, because I hadn’t seen her since she got an awful sinus infection weeks ago. Her voice did get a little raspy as we talked, but she looked prettier than ever. I wish I’d asked to take a photo of her.
Bob joined us and took Kacey for a run with the golf cart. That’s the first time she has had a good run since I quit letting her loose. We laughed that she slurped from every water bowl here – in the house and on both porches.
The day ended with phone calls from both daughter Lise and son John $. What a lovely way to end the day!

How sweet is all of THAT!
How feeling it must have felt to sing loud and proud! That video of Bob and Lacey was hilarious. Aww, the kids were checking in on you, that’s great! So glad your first Sunday alone was special!

So nice to know you are okay alone, that is and Logan visiting you. You have a caring family Anne.🥰

How lovely to read this just as I am headed off to bed, Anne. I love to sing when no one is listening, because as my dad said, I cannot carry a tune in a bucket.

I like to sing various parts. Often it’s alto on the first verse, soprano on the second, and tenor when the words are closest to the tenor line.

I take it your singing, joyous as it was, did not disturb the neighbours too much since Kayce didn’t object. So nice that Bob was able to take Kayce for a Sunday run and that you got visits from both
Logan and his mum. Vidits can help a long day go quicker. Even better was tyhe news that Lise and John $ rang you before the day was over to make sure you are OK. You must have gone to bed happy last night.
Being able to dine al fresco this early in March must have been a real treat for you. I hope the weather continues fair for you. we on the other hand have had warnings of snow due, not that it generally sticks this close to the coast, but it could make getting to the shops very slippy. I could end up providing free entertainment for my neighbours if I find I need anything.
Ginormous Hugs to you from Cymru.

It was a most pleasant Sunday, and I even played the piano for a while. Shawn kindly said I should open the window so that she could hear the music across the street.
Your snow sounds a lot like ours. It messes things up for a while and disappears. We’ve had no snow to speak of this winter.
A thousand warm hugs to you!

You have the best neighbours and a great family! How great to be able to belt out a song and not be worried about disturbing someone. My dogs seem to like it when I sing out loud (when we have the house to ourselves) 💖💖🐶🐶

I’m glad you sing around your dogs. They must respond to the joyous sounds.

Sounds like a lovely Sunday! Our weather was warm too but not as warm as your weather. You have enough people bouncing in your life that it made the day interesting.

Sunday was lovely, and so was Monday. I ate on the porch again!

So jealous. Miss my screened porch. I could eat on our deck but we don’t even in the summer.

I’m sorry you are missing your screened porch. I would miss mine if I didn’t have it.

I can attest to the fact that you are definitely ready for services. Loved hearing you sing while I was there. So fun to see Kacey running like that! Yay, Bob!

Wonderful to think you are settling in so well. Now I would be afraid of jerkin the dogs head off If I was driving the cart. Good he knows what he is doing.

Bob has had a fair number of dogs running with the golf cart. Kacey loved the running.

Is there any way you can you attend church in person? I think worshipping personally with others is so wonderful and good for us. I’m sure you do too and I don’t know your circumstances. Best wishes to you. Sandy

I may start going to church in person next month. Several couples have invited me to ride with them. The church is 45 minutes away. It’s hard on the dog, and I get tired. Next week daughter Lise will be here for three weeks, and we’ll be doing lots of local things. I agree with you that worshiping in person is best. I was never late for a service for 25 years before we moved here. (I was the organist and choir director.)

I so understand about getting tired so easily. (Remember the days when we were so frisky and did so much?). I think you are very active with your walking and entertaining family and friends.
I did remember that you were the organist. Oh how I long for church service with singing and organ music and organ and piano playing together and four part harmony. And all our little children sitting in the pews all dressed up and their little legs swinging back and forth.
Where did time go? We do have so much to be thankful for and many fond and funny memories. I know you feel the same way.
Thank you for responding and God bless you.
love / Sandy
