Easter 2024

Neighbor Logan (13) spent many hours with daughter Lise and me when he was off from school before Easter. What fun we had! The main intellectual activity was playing the word scramble game, Boggle. Logan won the first game we played. He and I tended to lag behind Lise, but we kept trying.

The day before Easter, we were tidying up. Logan pushed the Swiffer around all the hardwood floors and washed the windows which Kacey had decorated with her nose. I tried to pay him for his work, but he said he was going to leave it in the house, and he did. I’m not sure what day Logan was eating with us, but it was obvious he loves pickles.

Lise saw the tulips coming up that she planted last fall, and some looked parched. She watered them and probably saved them from a horrible death.

My photo of the week is on the silly side. Kacey is always delighted when I am on the floor doing exercises. She is sure I’m living on her level for her sole benefit.

I was very happy to worship on line – loved singing the stately Easter chorales and hymns. Neighbors joined us for a ham dinner. It was wonderful to have a relaxed time together, enjoying each other’s company. I took an ordinary photo with people sitting at the table.

Jeff was nominated to take a selfie, so we could all be in the same frame. I loved this high angle, so different from an ordinary picture. Didn’t he do a good job? He couldn’t see where he was aiming, because the camera couldn’t flip views like a phone. His is the face in the lower left corner.

      1. They only do that if you let them. If they know you don’t like it, they won’t. Dot will lick my hand sometimes as she knows I don’t want her to lick my face. It is her way of giving me a kiss. 💖

  2. Wonderful pictures and it sounded like a lovely day. I think most family dogs assume when we get down to their level it is for them. I don’t get on the floor often, too difficult to get up! Happy 1st week of Easter!

    1. After I moved to NC,I realized I couldn’t get up and down from the floor easily. I looked at videos on the proper way to do it. I’ve been on the floor almost every day for eight years. I’m glad I’m not afraid of it now.

      1. It never occurred to me to check videos. Now that I am 6 years post op on one knee and one year post op on the other, I have been able to get on my knees briefly without a lot of discomfort. Maybe I should check them out and might feel more secure. Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. After I fell in the snow bank and wrote about struggling to get out of it gracefully (and keep my digital compact camera that was in one hand dry), a fellow blogger told me her young grandchildren wanted her to play on the floor with her, so she got a CD of senior yoga moves. I ordered that CD after she said she was able to get up and down without issue. It is still in its shrinkwrap, but I do have to get cracking as I am not limber in the least – I’ll feel like a Mack truck the first day I get out and do yardwork. We’ve not had nice weather to do yardwork. Pickles sour or sweet – hard to tell what Logan is enjoying. That was a good selfie getting you all in the photo.

    1. I think I googled info about getting up from the floor and watched a few short videos.

Logan loves dill pickles. When the state took him from his mother, the only edible thing in the refrigerator was a jar of pickles. He was two years old

      1. When I landed on the floor when the chair broke in half, I was lucky the footstool was handy as I landed in a heap. I should do that as well. I sit too much so it is a good thing I am not going to be sitting the extra hours … I was sitting here 10-11 hours straight and that is not good.

  4. You always have fun, and I do love the Kacey photo. I am not graceful getting on the floor or up, but I have figured out what works for me. Randy and I laugh at the sight we must make doing it! Jeff’s picture is unusual–makes it fun!

    1. All you need is to be able to get up and down from the floor. I don’t think I’ll ask Lise to video my doing it, although that would probably send us into gales of laughter.
