The Last of Easter

I didn’t have Lise’s photos when I wrote about our Easter dinner, but she had two that I’d like everyone to see. After neighbor Jeff took a selfie from a high angle, we grouped ourselves together for one more that shows our faces better. This is my favorite taken that day. Jeff is next to Lise, and I am near Bob and Shawn.

This is a picture of peeps that Lise found while we were wandering around stores. I remember yellow peeps from my childhood. They were supposed to represent yellow chicks made of marshmallow with a coating of sugar. They tasted like pure sugar. Over the years, different colors were added. I bought green ones once, because that is my favorite color. Perhaps the unusual color caught Lise’s eye, and she read that they were flavored with Dr. Pepper, a popular flavor of soda. It was fun to taste. They didn’t last the day, being sampled and enjoyed after dinner.

  1. I have never seen Dr. Pepper Peeps. Marge loved them, so every time thy had them, (even for Fourth of July), I’d drop a little box off. Once my mom made her a Peeps cake. A regular cake and you plaster Peeps onto the sides and top – they stick to the frosting.

      1. It was cute, but I image it was very sweet. I follow a woman who shares a daily recipe (In Diane’s Kitchen) and she just made it for Easter. I’ll send it to you in a separate comment – same cake my mom made.

          1. I switched back to a stylist I used to use last year. She gave me 2 great haircuts. The last two have been very choppy in the back and I don’t know what she did or what to tell her. I may try someone new. I hate getting haircuts. It’s always a crap shoot.

  3. Meant to ask, how is David doing without Grannie’s cooking and off on his own. Let him know the Rooster was asking of his well being. Today, a chill in the air, a cold wind blows and a fire is crackling in the fireplace. Well, not really crackling, it’s gas fed. There are some great videos though of crackling fires. Mary Agnes up in her Sewing room, another quilt is taking shape. A bit of sadness today as the UConn ladies BB team fell to Iowa in the final 4. Next up, the men, may they fair better. A prediction of some temps in the 70’s for next week, we shall see. The weather prognosticators can not be trusted. Thoughts of warmth from the Eastern Shore, Rooster & the Mrs.

    1. I presume David is doing well. He is a person of very few words — always was.

We’ve had weird weather, too. I have never seen my lawn being mowed only an hour or so after snow was falling (and not sticking).
