When daughter Lise found that neighbor Logan (13) likes sushi, she declared we had to set a date to have it. She challenged him to use chopsticks, so they practiced picking up a straw cover before the food came.
I took a photo of them with their meals and with fried cheesecake for dessert. I particularly liked the boat Lise’s food was served in.
As we drove away, I commented on seeing a shop serving Bubble Tea. We had passed it when Logan exclaimed about it. Lise asked if we should turn around and get some. When the answer was yes, please, she immediately turned around, drove back, and parked. The two ladies inside had no other customers and seemed to enjoy serving us. We loved all the choices. We sat in soft chairs to drink, which is when Logan wandered over to the counter and read the labels. He said, “My mom likes lavender.” Lise offered to buy a drink for Shawn, who was home recuperating from shoulder surgery. She let us know that it tasted good to her.
The next morning Logan came over to walk with us. The air was quite a bit colder than he expected, so he asked if he could borrow my knit hat. It’s the one my friend Karen knit for me. I felt she would be pleased to share it with my favorite neighbor, so I found another head covering that day. With the weather getting warmer, we might not be wearing hats again until November.

I just loved this! Lise and Logan look so cute and having such fun with the sushi and chopsticks. I have never had bubble tea–not sure if they have it anywhere around here. But, I did walk yesterday!

I THINK bubble tea has bubbles of tapioca in it, but I’m not sure. It was my first time to try it.
The food on the dish was fried cheesecake with whipped cream. It’s an odd thing, and we split it three ways.
HUGS!!!

The hat looks great on Logan and I’m sure his mom loved the bubble tea. I had some great bubble tea in Thailand! How wonderful that Logan likes sushi. My great granddaughter does as well. Good that he tried the chopsticks. (I do see a fork on his plate though!) Looks like you are all having fun. xo

Logan didn’t use the chopsticks for his sushi. We were having a wonderful time. xo

Did they like the tea? I had some once a long time ago, I wonder if it’s better these days! Logan is cute as ever and Lise always looks so happy. I’m not a sushi fan at all but i hope they liked it! Never had fried cheesecake either…i bet it was delectable!

We all liked the tea. Lise has had it before. The sushi was delicious. Logan had something without raw fish. I have him one piece of mine, and he said he’s going to order that next time. Fried cheesecake was odd. I’m glad to have tasted it, but I probably won’t bother to eat it again.

I remember that red knitted hat because that is when I followed you. Your blog post wearing the hat, I think covered in snow on one of your walks, appeared at the bottom of my post in Reader and I decided you were a fellow walker and followed you. You guys do get around and you are way ahead of me on all these different foods. I’ve never had sushi, nor fried cheesecake and I had to Google to find out what bubble tea was. It looks delicious but I can’t imagine that drink combo with tapioca pearls in it. They’d get stuck in your straw! My mom used to make tapioca pudding with the big pearls. When she was in the Hospital for Sick Children for four years (ages 11 – 15) she told me that was a regular dessert item and the kids called it “fish eyes and glue”.

I went grocery shopping today and was not looking for bubble tea, but passed a display of ready-made bubble tea. I think it was “Boba” that was the brand.

I think the real name may be Boba. I don’t know if Boba is mispronounced as bubble, or whether the round balls in the drink remind people of bubbles.

OK, I see. The tapioca pearls would remind someone of bubbles – hope they don’t give them to kids who might choke on them.

The kids in the hospital made their feelings known about creamed peas on toast too. 🙂
