On line I saw an article about guessing when you will die. Since Lise made me promise I’d live another decade or so, I checked it out. I put in my gender and current age, then saw a lively display with falling balls. A few balls hit near me, but most went out a bit further. I could get to 90 or above! The statement said, “The life expectancy for the average woman in the United States is 81 years and 2 months.”
I’m already six months past my expiration date!! I’ve lived longer than my mother did, but not as long as both my grandmothers. I’m free! I’ve put the numbers behind me and will no longer worry about living as long as expected. I can take each day the Lord gives me and pray to use the time to declare his glory. How exhilarating! The pressure is off! The extra time is here!
No way! You are a much braver woman than me!! I will not look at that but I’m happy you did and now feel the freedom to live the time the Lord gives you!
I don’t want anything else to worry about, so I’m better off leaving those things alone!

I will! I’m not going to the store, but I wonder if there are any balloons for Labor Day.

That’s a good question for at the store, but I went on Amazon and yes, they have Labor Day balloons. Do they have everything? I think so! In fact, I thought of you yesterday because I heard a “Bloomberg Business Report” on my all-news station that Amazon is considering giving Alexa an AI upgrade and charging a fee of $5.00 to $10.00 for that. You can still use your existing Alexa for no charge. This why Jeff Bezos is a millionaire.

I’m disappointed to hear that. I usually stick with the free stuff.

I was surprised to hear that, but the”Classic” Alexa free version will still be available, just unable to answer complex questions.

That’s good. I know some browsers already have an AI version. I tried it once and was surprised at how good it was.

I tried it too – I think it was ChatGPT, the free version. That was after Ally Bean wrote a post about it and generated a story after using a few key words – voila, a story/post!

That’s fun that you found Labor Day balloons.

Amazon has everything! They had lots of them, different styles. Our Labor Day parade is a big deal here in Detroit. I understand the VP is attending it, a tradition through the years.

Yes, everything you could ever want is there. I forgot to mention that not only does Detroit have this huge annual Labor Day parade, but also has the Labor Day Bridge Walk, an event which commemorates the many different skilled tradesmen who built the Mackinac Bridge connecting the Lower and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This Bridge is five miles long and there were 35,000 walkers today.

That’s a lot of walkin’ dudes!

I know and I would love to walk in it someday! And the Governor usually walks, but she was getting ready for the VP’s visit to the parade and speech etc. So the Lt. Governor walked instead.

I don’t know where I read it but it was to the lines of “live all the days of your life.” While I come from a long line of people who live a long time on both sides of my family, “at the end of the day, Lord I pray, I’ll have a life that’s good.” I would just change to “I’ll have lived a life that’s good.” And may you live all the days of your life, Anne.

I’ve always had something of a fatalistic stance to how long I will live, which I find to be rather free-making. To be unworried and unhurried in that department grants a kind of permission to live without dread or anger for that which is above my pay grade. The flip side of that coin is to live with angst over everything (and probably thankfulness for nothing).

If I give each day back to the Lord, everything will be fine. Big IF!

I love your attitude! We almost lost our mom at 86. After that we said each day we had her was a bonus. She lived to be 92. If we spend our days in fear of dying, we never really live do we?

I have already outlived both of my parents. My brother and I are having a contest though. He wants to outlive me. He’s 16 years older then me and in his 90s so he just may do it!

Wow! My brother is almost 84, and he is thankful he can still help his wife who has Parkinson’s. A man stopped his truck to speak to me while I was walking this morning. He was hurrying to the pharmacy to pick up meds for his wife. He used to walk that road every day — went down to the service station, he said. I didn’t tell him I used to go to the creek. He doesn’t walk far any more. He said, “I’m 96.”

And still driving! Hats off to him! My brother is still driving. He said he would stop at 90 but that came and went. Losing that independence wouldn’t be good for him.
