We are gearing up for winter storm Cora that is supposed to hit tomorrow. Already the start time has slipped back by several hours. Despite that, a number of closures have already been announced.
I don’t know exactly how cold it was when I walked this morning. I replaced batteries in one of the outdoor thermometers, and its screen refused to show the temperature. At first I thought the cold broke it, but later at 9:30 it showed 14 degrees. In preparation at 8:00, I added one thing to my normal clothing – pulling the hood of the sweatshirt over the knit hat Karen H. made for me years ago. Legs encased in only jeans stayed warm. People visibly waved back at me, and one even waved before I did! I imagined they were rewarding my dedication.

Holly stopped her car on her way to work and voiced what everyone really thought – you are crazy. I wish she had asked me, “Are you crazy?” If she had, I would have given her John’s stock answer, “No, but it helps.”
I made an emergency run to Dollar General for tissues, batteries, and hand lotion. I had gotten eggs, milk, and bread three days ago. That’s what David calls ingredients for French toast — the items most people get the day before a storm. Mine was ordinary shopping, not part of the storm frenzy. I found my car has a glove warmer!! My gloves were too big to fit in coat pockets, so I turned to put them on the car seat. That’s when I found the glove warmer – strong sunlight shining on the seat. When I came back, the gloves were toasty warm.
Toke’s sister (who lives in Greenland) is having a low of -2.2°F today! 🥶

I don’t know that she will look at this again. She and Toke are going to Greenland this spring.

It’s too cold for me to walk but then again, I’m not much for temps under 70! 🙂

Good for you for walking in all kinds of weather. Stay dry and warm. I hope the storm is a mild one. xo

I don’t walk in rain, and I won’t walk if it is icy under foot.

Good for you! I start whining when it gets into the 60s.

I begin to whine when the temperature is over 75°.

I hope don’t have any problems from the storm. It is funny to me, weather I thought nothing of in Colorado has become exciting in Alabama!

We can compare storms after they are over.

Let’s do that! I know when I went to the bathroom at 4:30 AM this morning, it was snowing. We had about a half inch accumulated then. At 8:30 AM, it looks like we have 2 inches.

My snow didn’t get started until about noon. It’s almost 5:30 now, and rain seems to be beating down the one inch that had stuck.

I hope it doesn’t turn to ice. The weather service keeps warning us about ice.

OMG!! I completely forgot my car has seat warmers! And they get warm fast. I’ve been driving around freezing waiting for my car to warm up when I go somewhere. Thanks for the reminder. (Sun is good, too.)
We are looking at 5 inches of snow starting tomorrow evening. I might bundle up and go for a walk. I love walking in the snow at night. Less traffic and everything is quiet. I’ll think of your dedication to walking while I’m out. 🙂

Isn’t walking in snow fun? I love it, too.

Yes, indeed! I have a fabulous pair of Ugg boots I found for a fraction of their normal price. I can walk on anything winter with them. Makes it easier to be out and around.

Good luck with this storm Anne … I kept hearing it would be hitting “the Carolinas”. We’re still in the Deep Freeze here and getting 2-3 inches of snow tomorrow, what will be our first measurable snowfall this season.

I don’t think the storm will be as intense as they first said. I hope I get to see snow falling for a while.

That’s good … snow is good as you miss it. You had some photos a few years back on your back porch/deck as it piled up. Our snow began in earnest mid-afternoon. We are getting 2-4 inches they say now.

Praying this is a quick storm that doesn’t affect your power. Stay cozy indoors and enjoy the wintry view safely from the windows❄️.

I had to convert the temp 72 degrees F is 22 degrees C, for me 22 degrees isn’t that cold but since I am not stupid I know that other factors come into play that affect how cold it would feel, like the wind chill, and what part of the world you are in.

I don’t like heat, so your 22 degrees is comfortable for me. I dread anything higher.
