Two times recently I would have missed people at my front door if I hadn’t been just a few feet away. I’ve had this doorbell for a couple of years and never made it perform well. Do you do that kind of thing? Do you have a mental list of little jobs that never get done? Maybe I’m just small-minded.
I looked at the list of sounds the device could make. Westminster chimes were out, because the clock has dibs on that. There were 10 choices of Christmas melodies that I failed to use in December. Then there were the things that I’d never consider like Thursday Night Football, Dogs Barking, and Charge! My eyes lit up when I saw Train Whistle. That’s the one for this house! John would have gotten a kick out of that. I know, because he was delighted that our phones rang the sound of a steam engine. The doorbell version is more like a Lionel model train. It lacks the music of live steam, but it will get my attention.
That’s a great choice.

A dear family friend travels the country photographing trains. I will have to tell him about this train whistle sound on your doorbell! He will want one!

Maybe all electronic doorbells have many choices. I have a Ring doorbell. There are good ringtones for phones with train sounds. I wish John could have met your friend, because he would have loved to talk trains with him.

Yes, it sounds like he and John would have been fast friends. I’ll tell him the sound is via the Ring.

A nod to John and he is looking down at you and thinking “what took you so long?”

I would love to change the sound of my doorbell to something that actually grab my attention. With all the alerts and rings that we deal with in daily life, I unconsciously block them out so that I don’t at every little noise. Otherwise , my nerves would be completely frazzled.

That’s a tall order to get something that grabs your attention without being too intrusive. I do not hear well, so sounds don’t bother me very much.

We removed the doorbell because it drove the dogs crazy. They bark at anyone approaching the front door anyway and that our bell. Only problem is hard to pretend I’m not home 😉

For a while, I had a dog here. She was my doorbell also. In fact, she was better than my doorbell.

There was a doorbell installed in my house, but it did not work. We put two different ones in that never did work well. My daughter found this one that has been very reliable.

We only have one tune for our doorbell, installed when we transferred here in late 1995 and it is still functioning till now.😍

We had several doorbells at this house, but they did not work well. Lise suggested this one. It has done the job well for over a year.

Trains are wonderful. Being less than a half mile from a track, I hear them every day.

I have a mental list and when it gets longer than 3 to 4 items, I’ll write it down. I’ll forget otherwise.

You are doing very well to remember a few items. I don’t trust myself anymore. It’s easier to write things down then keep bringing them up in my mind.
