Ring Doorbell

If only my title here were true! My doorbell doesn’t ring!!! When neighbors Shawn and D came over, Shawn knocked on the door to get my attention. She knew I had worked to get it to sound like a Lionel train, and it did on my telephone! She pressed the button before she stepped across the threshold. Nothing happened. A few times later it did ring, but the sound was outside, not in the kitchen!! What is the point of that? Reassuring the person that it can make a noise and leading them to believe I would hear nothing??

It’s too bad I didn’t complain more so that I could take more back. After writing the above paragraph, I tried the bell myself. Nothing happened. I looked at what I had pressed – the old bell that was taped to keep people from using it!! The bigger bell with RING on it did seem to work. I am skeptical, though. The next time someone comes to visit and is willing to help me, we will test that ringer thoroughly. Shawn was using the right button, or nothing would have sounded. As a first resort, not the last resort, I used an indelible marker, hoping people will see they need to use the big ringer.

    1. After a while, little things can become a big deal. If I can’t get to the bottom of the problem, Lise will be coming in a few weeks. She has a ring doorbell at her flat.

  1. Our regular old doorbell that came with the house never worked from the day we moved here. My father never fixed it, so after he left, when we changed the siding from green to blue, we had it removed. How boring am I?
