Rushing the Season

Spring weather did its usual yo-yo, with temperatures swinging at random. Recently, while it was in a very warm phase, I took the duvet off my bed and replaced it with silky sheets and a light blanket. That didn’t last long! I endured self-inflicted shivering off and on for a week and changed the covers at the usual sheet-changing time. I longed for bedtime to arrive so that I could snuggle under the summer duvet. It was wonderful!

Bed is back to spring, not summer.

I love my bed!

  1. I love my bed too even though I tend not to sleep much when there. I have the same duvet no matter the season but have recently experimented with different covers

My usual cotton covers are great but recently I tried “teddy bear’ material.talk about toastie. I snuggled down into immediate warmth with no warm-up time needed.

as the warmth of Summer approaches I know I Won’t be able to tolerate the warmth and will have to revert to cotton again, but in the meantime it”s snuggle joy. I almost feel married again. Huge Hugs

    1. The duvet we bought in England was marvelous while we lived there. It was also great for New York winters. It was overkill in North Carolina.

I laughed at your comment about snuggling under your duvet and almost feeling married again. John slept in a chair for the last 10 to 20 years of his life! His blankets must have been really warm.

  2. Just today I switched from flannel sheets and heavy blanket to knit summer sheets and cotton lightweight blanket. I always have fleece throws to use if we got a cold night.

  3. I love snuggling in my bed when it is cold. I love the ceiling fan above our bed when it has jumped to being warm. This week, it has switched to being cool again.

  4. Having a comfortable bed is so important. I still have my winter blankets on my bed. I may get warm at kick them off at times, but I still need them. I wish our weather would hurry up and warm up!

Does your bed have a canopy?

    1. No, the bed has no canopy. It’s very old and very plain. It came to me through my grandmother who was born in 1880. I saw it in her guest room when I was growing up, then it was stored in a basement. My dad had it refinished, and it was in my parents guest room. Daughter Lise asked for it, and it now belongs to her. She’s not going to take it to Denmark, and that’s why I’m using it.
