When the neighbors were together on my porch, I hoped no one would notice that I hadn’t cleaned the spot where I store garden tools. Everything else had been swept or wiped down. As I walked near the messy spot, Bob asked, “What is all this?”
I replied that those were my outside tools, and some probably should be thrown away. He said something comforting, like he could see some good things. I said, “I have to take everything out and clean it up. Maybe I’ll do it on a rainy day.”
Four days later as it began to rain, I thought of what I had said to Bob. That was the spur that got me out on the porch. I threw away one ratty pair of John’s gloves and moved two large rakes and some screening material to the garage. It wasn’t hard to clean the tray and sweep the floor, I just needed a nudge. Thank you, Bob, for inspiring me to put that corner to rights.

Yes there is always something that needs done and sometime a little nuts is all it takes.

That’s the kind of cleaning I don’t like to do but once you get started it doesn’t take long.

It is nice to get organized. I still have so much to do in that area.

😆 I wish! So much to do, but at least I feel stronger and healthier.

Maybe one of these days I will get that done, too.

Funny how saying it aloud to someone else can make us accountable even if it doesn’t matter to that person.

I never realized your porch was that big, although you have shown family gatherings in the past with a long table filled with people. It is best to have gardening tools/supplies handy as you’re more motivated to use them that way. 🙂

If I had to get tools out of the shed every time I worked in the garden, nothing would get done.

The lawn mower and battery-powered blower and weed whacker are all behind the car, so that requires moving the car to use them … yes, a pain. I try to keep the smaller tools to access them, but my car is plugged in all the time on a trickle charger, so I have to unplug that to reach the shelving unit. I shut my eyes to the weeds (like the dust bunnies) most of the time. Don’t tell anyone.

I think I will subscribe to that theory that I can’t see dust too. As I look around me I shudder sometimes, but it’s Summer and it was a long Winter, so there you have it, my confession too.

Sometimes we need to have tools and such out so we can see them reminding us to use them and get stuff done.

You are absolutely right. I just needed to make my tools less of an eyesore.
