Skipping eight days, these are the last photos of daughter Lise’s visit. Neighbor Holly and I dropped her off at the airport at 6:00 pm. About five or six hours later her flight was canceled because there had been a storm in Atlanta. The storm stalled over the city and dumped hail, disabling a number of airplanes. Because it was a natural disaster, the airline did not have to provide a room in a hotel for her. She rented a car and came back here. After a few hours of sleep, she walked to the stop sign with me.
We had a light breakfast and shopped for a new suitcase for her. She had borrowed one of mine and felt she should replace it with a sturdier one. That meant she had to repack everything and check the weight of each piece. Her efficiency was amazing to watch.

She stowed the heavy bags in the car.. Although she had already done a day’s work, she looked fairly fresh as she headed for the airport. This time she will go through Newark instead of Atlanta. I don’t remember where she will land before getting her final flight to Copenhagen. Wherever it is, I hope everything will go smoothly.

And another wonderful trip is over. How fast the time flies!

Well, it isn’t over. Just as I published that post, Lise phoned that today’s flight was canceled, as well. Before she called me, she arranged for Holly to pick her up today and bring her back tomorrow. Again, I’m tagging along for the fun.

I guess you enjoyed the little bit of extra time, but so sorry for Lise to have to deal with this extra hassle. I hope the rest of the trip is better, but anymore, that seems to be rare.

Lise is going back to the airport tomorrow for her third attempt to fly to Denmark.

Let’s hope the “third time is the charm” this time. I am not sure why folks used to say it, as I have not heard it in years. We will all send out collective good travel karma. ❤️

You have to be prepared for anything when you travel. But a couple of extra days with Lise is always nice.

I agree, more time to spend with Lise is a good thing. I hope her work is very understanding about the cancelled flights!

Well I hope Lise is winging her way home by now and probably sleeping the entire way after the hectic interrupted travel plans the day before. Unfortunately, the storms she hoped to see with you on the front porch waited too long and now wreaked havoc with her plans.

Newark had bad weather today, which caused the second cancelation. We’ll try again tomorrow.

Oh for goodness sake! Well I hope Lise got home today, but you had a few bonus visit days with her out of this weather mess anyway.

hope she’s well on her way. I think I heard that Atlanta is one of the busiest airports (although Newark comes to mind also)

Hail and thunderstorms were the cause of the cancellations.

Lise actually got on the plane today. I just got a text that they were taking off about an hour late. She has a layover in Atlanta, then on to Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

Two cancellations in a row, to different airports…Lise’s adventures are sounding like my daughter’s during college. We always joked there should be a frequent airport card instead of frequent flier, because her one-stop to San Francisco, usually ended up with four or five airports. Third time’s the charm?

Lise has taken off now. There are weather problems in Atlanta, but they are hoping it will be over before they land.
