I knew the exercises would not stay as easy as they were in the first three sessions of PT. I was the only patient there, so everything was low key. This time there were two therapists and four patients, as well as the receptionist. The stories and laughter bounced off the walls. My body was fine, but my face ached from smiling and laughing for a full hour.
My therapist grew up in this area and has the gift of story-telling. He told of waking up in the morning and not being comfortable in bed. He shifted a bit and wondered what he was lying on. Finally he rolled over and reached behind him. It was a dead rat!!! The dog must have brought it in and put it in bed with him as he slept. I already knew he lived on a farm in a remote area, but this was almost beyond belief. The receptionist said if that had happened to her, she would have burned the bed β sheets, mattress, and all.
Laughter is great therapy!

Dogs are not as good as cats in bringing presents.

I’d shoot that dog and done the same thing to the bed and anything on it. I thought only cats and crows brought presents to those that are kind to them. My friend in NY feeds the birds and gives them water. The last year or so a crow would see her feeding the birds and putting fresh water in the birdbath and hop over to stand and watch her. She felt badly for it and went inside and got it some fruit to eat. Then she bought a bag of peanuts and gave it one peanut a day. So the crow left her trinkets near where its treats were, then, what wasn’t so funny was the crow was stealing big objects and hiding them in the gutter (she guesses to use as later “gifts” for her) … it put a couple of kid’s tube socks up there and clogged up the works and she needed a handyman to fix it.

Crows are very smart – I thought it was fascinating too. I read once that crows will take nuts from trees and put them in the middle of the street for cars to run over and crack the shell so they can eat them. They are able to do brain exercises to fit shapes into the proper slots (for lack of a better word) … they have the ability to reason.
