At some point my physical therapist will ask what I cooked for dinner the previous day. Of course he is interested in food, since he has an associate’s degree in culinary arts. My meals are so unmemorable that I often fumble for an answer. This time I will be prepared, because I thought my grilled hamburger was as good as I had hoped. I remembered to get the meat and buns out of the freezer first thing in the morning, so they were ready when I was that afternoon. The grill is on the back porch and needed only a light dusting before being preheated. To prevent a careless mistake, I timed everything.
I laughed at myself as I stood waiting to put the meat on the grill. As usual, my back was bent. I said, “You silly thing! Stand up straight, or you’ll have to tell the PT that you weren’t paying attention!”
He won’t ask, but my big mouth will probably confess it eagerly. I’m not going to write a book, but if I did, I’d probably name it “Unprovoked Confessions”. I think that is a cut above “Me and my Big Mouth”.

I am happy that you even know how to use the grill. That is a ‘David’ task around here! Its not lost on me that I would be so uneducated without him.

I’m not dealing with charcoal. I bought a small electric grill that suits me just fine. This is the second time I’ve used it. The cleanup isn’t bad, either.
I have learned a lot since John died. I found out it’s dangerous for me to change the whole house water filter in the crawl space and now have someone else do it. I can’t reach the 6 smoke detectors and now have a neighbor do it once a year. I pay him with chocolate. His wife does not like to cook at all, so he appreciates any home cooking. Guests have offered to clean the gutter over the front steps, and I let them.

We have the big gas type and we never use it. I’d prefer something smaller and easier.

I love leftovers, too. One burger was for today and another for this week. Two are already in the freezer.

Wow! That is impressive. My husband said his parents bought beef in large quantities, but they had a huge freezer.

The great thing is getting to have rib eye steak for around $2.00 a pound. (It’s probably about twice that now, but still way better than grocery store prices)

Those two “books” would be akin to something that would define me too. Your hamburgers look delicious. I would like to reach over and have one. I have never cooked on a grill. We had a Hibachi years ago and used it outside or to take it on family picnics but that was a very long time ago. Was your physical therapist impressed when you told him your grandson had a culinary arts degree too and that he aspired to be a pastry chef someday?

The physical therapist kind of skipped over Nathaniel’s training. I found out later that he had an associates degree. He worked in kitchens, but it’s a hard life and he needed something more regular so he could take care of his mother. She had been in a bad car accident, and her brain was damaged.

Oh, that’s sad and how ironic he is a therapist when his poor mom is in such dire straits, or maybe he saw the work of physical therapists while helping out his mom. I worry so much about driving anymore – so many senseless accidents. Just this weekend, a man who was driving impaired, drove the wrong way and seriously injured five people, with him being the least injured (of course).

He will certainly think hamburgers are better than homemade chicken salad. He as much as said that wasn’t really cooking. I laughed.

I use a recipe I found many, many years ago in a cookbook. It calls for ground beef, soy sauce, onion, garlic, grated ginger root, egg, and bread crumbs. I realize you would not eat it. I wish I could try some of your vegetarian dishes.

The new grill is easy to use and easy to clean. I don’t want to fool with charcoal again. The taste would be better, but it’s too much trouble for me.

Yummy looking hamburgers. I like that the grill is small that would be the kind I would need. You gave me a laugh with this… “Unprovoked Confessions”. I think that is a cut above “Me and my Big Mouth”. Keep enjoying the hamburgers, Anne. Have a blessed day.

” I multiplied having three children…” I love it!!!!! But that’s exactly what it is having children, isn’t it? Multiply, become multitasking ( even if you don’t realise it), multithinking and never alone. Lonely at times but never really alone anymore, in the good and the bad 😉

I’m so impressed. Shortly after I got married I grilled some pork chops. It caught on fire, and I just the lid. Chris came home and poked at them, and they disintegrated! You definitely do better than I.
