From Summer Oats to Supper Oatmeal

When daughter Kate and grandson David were here, I stirred together Summer Oats – Greek yogurt and uncooked oats. There were too many other things to eat for breakfast, and most of it was still sitting in the refrigerator when they left. Tonight I stirred in milk, sprinkled some chocolate chips on top, and heated some in the microwave. It was not a hardship to eat it for supper.

  1. I have never had overnight oats, but have hot oatmeal every morning for breakfast. I used to cook it on the stove after I gave my microwave to Marge. (I had to keep it in the basement as I have no countertop space and I went downstairs to use it and a big spider was walking on the top and disappeared behind it – it was in a darkish corner of the basement.) So, back to my comment … I like hot oatmeal and didn’t want to cook it, so I buy the Old-Fashioned Quaker Oats and just get hot water from the tap, after letting it run a few minutes – voila. I put raisins in it beforehand and mix in some powdered creamer and also a scoop of peanut butter.

      1. Ha ha – no, just a simpler way to do it … really, if you like hot oatmeal, just try the hot water in the bowl as it works. A fellow blogger put peanut butter in her oatmeal and I thought “why?” Then I tried it – I love peanut butter and I use crunchy, so it gives it even more texture. If I go on a long walk, my breakfast sticks with me and is not down in my toes.

  2. Sounds great. I have oatmeal just about every morning with fruit and nuts. Such a great way to start the day. I would have it for supper too if I was stuck for ideas. But hubby doesn’t like it.
