I heard a ding from my phone and looked to see what had come in. A new photo had been added. I laughed, because it was a picture of me taking a photo on the porch a few minutes before. When there is motion near the door, daughter Lise gets a notification in Denmark. She can look at her phone and see a video taken by my doorbell. She saved that frame and sent it to me. Just so you know, I like having her connected to me that way. Besides being a safety feature, it isn’t intrusive and keeps us in touch.

I have no idea what the proper name for the red-leafed bush is, but it is commonly known as Burning Bush. Today it appeared to be smoking! Can you see the smoke rising from it? It is really mist, which we have most mornings at this time of year. The only burning that takes place is the sun burning off the mist, making it disappear.

I love the ‘burning’ bush and the picture of you taking a picture on the porch!

That’s funny – a red alert so to speak! I don’t know the name of them, but I always called them “Fire Bush” – same type of name as yours, which is very beautiful. My two smaller bushes have one leaf apiece and the large ones in the backyard have none.

I lost my additional comment. I was telling you David started working one of your special jigsaw puzzles when he stayed here a few days. Since then, I have a goal of finding at least one piece a day. The light has to be very good for me to see it. So far I’ve been quite successful. David was here today for a short while, and we both worked on it. I found one piece, and he found 24! Whatever I don’t finish, I’m sure Lise will. These puzzles are so much fun. Most enjoyable!

I hate when that happens – you type a long comment and it goes into cyberspace. I have gotten into the habit, if I have a long comment, of saving it in my computer notes document until it is sent. I didn’t know David liked working on the family puzzles too! That is great and that is a great goal on your part. Is Lise going to be there for Thanksgiving as she usually is? My mother did enjoy her puzzles, so I know what you mean. I bought myself a Christmas puzzle to do as the holidays near. It is small enough to do on the small table I have in the kitchen that I use for odds and ends and when I do painting. I do the online puzzles at “Jigsaw Planet” sometimes, but I can’t do anything more than 20 pieces max because I have my screen magnified as it is and any more pieces and it’s too difficult to see the “cheat sheet puzzle picture” plus work the rest of the puzzle pieces. They even have 300-piece online puzzles, which I guess you would have to have a very large computer screen to do them.

The photo your daughter sent of you really does make the bush look like there is smoke above. You got an amazing photo of the bush and its surroundings. I have never seen a beautiful bush like it.

It is green from spring to fall, and then the leaves turn red before they fall off. It’s a very common bush in the mountains of North Carolina.

I don’t know if you have ever been to Summersville WV, but there is a hugs shopping center there with these bushes lining all the sides. It is breathtaking in autumn!

I’ve been through WV a number of times, but I don’t think I was ever in Summersville. I wish I could see those bushes.

That is a great idea. I’m glad David is helping with the puzzle. It’s more fun when two are working on it. The bush is an euonymus alatus bush.

How fun that Lise can pop in to ‘see’ you despite being so far away! I have a burning bush in my yard, but it’s very slow this year, only the top has recently turned red, so far. Perhaps it’s due to a mild fall or not enough sun.

I have a slower burning bush at my house, too.

I feel the same way about sharing my location with my mother (and she hers, with me)… Especially when one of us is traveling, and then (to quote Sheldon from the “Big Bang Theory”) we track each other “like sea turtles”… She’s sent me a screenshot, when I was on my sailboat, of her tracking screen: my face on a dot in the water, and “You’re in your happy place!” 😉
