Snow!

Daughter Kate in New Jersey alerted her sister Lise that she should look out of the window. She had seen that we were having snow, light though it was. I had already noted that the wooden deck was covered with a thin layer of white. We went out to walk while there were still a few flakes floating about. I would have forgotten to take the obligatory photo at the stop sign, but Lise drew out her phone to do it.

We ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant where the tables were quite high. I told Lise I didn’t need utensils, because I could lean over slightly and eat like a dog. I didn’t. The food was so delicious that we used knives and forks properly, forgetting the height of the table.

Snow fell for several hours during the night, and we woke to a winter wonderland. A few hours later, everything had melted, except where shade kept the sun from reaching the snow.

  1. The cold weather and snow settled in pretty quickly didn’t it? Our weatherman joked that the snowbirds took their frosty weather to Florida where it was only 22 degrees (we had 25) and that wind chills this Tuesday morning would be colder in northern and central Florida then some of the wind chills we will see in Michigan. There were a few patches of ice on the perimeter path today. The high tables are different – I wonder why they do that?

      1. Ours too – 61 on Saturday, but some rain in the afternoon. We had a wonderful weather today, got to 58, but windy, with gusts almost to 25 mph by the time I was ready to go home. I did a walk in Downtown Trenton and it was awful by the time I was done with the walk.

      1. Oh that is such a shame. I wonder why the West Coasters don’t find those kinds of situations amusing? That intrigues me – humour is something that doesn’t always translate between languages or ethnicities but between east and west or mid coast? I wasn’t aware of that contrast before.
