As neighbor Joyce and I were walking, I said, “Read.”
“What?” she questioned.
“I was reading that car license plate that went by, and it says READ. Someone told me the owner is a librarian, so it’s most appropriate.”
In North Carolina, you can buy a “vanity plate” to have your own message instead of a meaningless set of numbers and letters to identify your car. You are allowed eight characters. No inappropriate words, abbreviations, or phrases are allowed.
I wondered aloud what I would choose. Without missing a beat, Joyce said, “I would choose BIRDS.”
She loves nature and is willing to walk leisurely with me so she can look at birds, animals, and plants. I’ve learned a lot from her and value our walks together.
What would I choose? It didn’t take long. I’d opt for WORDS on my car tag.
Have you ever thought what you would choose if you wanted a special tag for your car? John and I never wanted that, but TRAINS41 or CHOOCHOO would have been appropriate for his car.
well, as words would be mine…😉

I have no idea what I would choose for the tag. I would sure enjoy walks with you and Joyce though. I so love birds and all of nature.

I’d probably select NATURE. Every year I hear stats on just how many inappropriate names are turned down for personalized license plates by the Michigan Secretary of State! So, I just Googled as it was pretty amazing to me, both the yearly and all-time totals:
“Michigan rejects roughly 2,000 personalized license plate requests annually due to inappropriate, vulgar, or offensive language, contributing to a master banned list that exceeded 30,000 combinations by early 2026.”

Yes, I was amazed as well! I just stick with the plate I’m assigned. I had the same plate for years and then a few years ago they decided to make the numbers with reflective properties to they are easier to see in the dark, so we all had to get new plates. I had memorized the old one, but this one I have not. Years ago we got tiny license plates to put on our key chains.

My old license plate I had a scheme for remembering it, but this one, forget about it … no way.

Mama or MamaDuck – for years raising my kids this tag seemed like a great idea😄🦆. I never got it but my youngest still uses the quack sound for my ring tone when I call her! Now I would choose something else but not sure what🤔.

That’s amusing that the ring tone on your daughter’s phone is a quacking duck!
