Color Orange

For the last several months, every time I saw an orange vehicle, I commented on how ugly it was. I had no idea I had such strong feelings, but then my eyes have not been assaulted that way until recently.

I began to think of colors, naming people I know whose favorite color is blue, green, yellow, red, or purple. I don’t know of a single person who favors orange over all the pretty colors. Having chastised myself for being critical of the color, I promise I won’t think less of a person who admits to favoring orange.

I’m beginning to feel sorry for Orange, being an outcast of sorts. I’m going to try to be nicer about it now.

  1. Funny. I like orange. I found a pretty print with orange and bought some since I am ready to make a new quilt. I discovered colors that go well with orange are gray, navy blue, teal, white and rusty brown. So pretty.

  9. A recent multi day champion on Jeopardy said his favorite color was orange, and he wore it every day for his 30+ day winning streak.

    Personally, I only like orange in the fall. But a friend of mine just bought a car with the color called Papaya, a burnt metallic orange that is really kind of nice.

  10. I read this late last night before I went to bed…and dreamed about orange colors–bold orange prints that people were wearing. In my defense, I have been quite sick the past few days and taking medication, so I don’t think you are responsible, but it was an odd coincidence. Perhaps it goes to show how much enters our subconscious that we are not aware has an effect! I do like orange in some things, and have a pair of orange side chairs that I love. I have the thought that an orange car, when I see one, just looks odd, as does yellow or purple, and the neon green ones really shock me!

  15. I have an orange bicycle that I bought years ago. It’s held up really well, and I ride it all the time. The color has grown on me.

  17. Perhaps the orange car was a good bargain. Easy to see in bad weather might be a plus. I might sport something orange to wear for Halloween, but it’s not one of the colors I normally wear. Have a lovely weekend. oxox

  18. I attended a photographer thing with Bryan Peterson. He asked people who liked orange to raise their hands. I raised mine with like 2 other people in the whole room. He made some joke about us 3 psychopaths’ because he liked orange too. I even painted a room red and orange. I was the only one who liked it – but I’m okay with that. Although we did repaint before listing it. Same with my purple and green wall in the same house.

  19. I don’t really have a favorite color–there are so many wonderful combinations in nature and in the garden. But I do enjoy orange in some situations. I’m a huge fan of Zinnias, and many of them are orange…so I’m very happy with them in my sunny garden. The hummingbirds like them, too. πŸ™‚
