Double Rainbow

I was chatting on the phone with daughter Kate when odd things began to happen. A light was flashing on the base plug for the doorbell, the CD player began playing in the kitchen, and a few other noises came from the rest of the house. Usually the clock on the stove blinks when the electricity goes out, but it didn’t this time. The generator did not come on. There was no interruption in our phone connection, either. Neighbors checked in with a group chat. Everyone noticed the blip. Holly works for the electric company, and she was contacting the man on duty tonight.

I noticed the light outside was an odd color and went to the porch. There was a brilliant rainbow, and I saw a very pale second rainbow. The others saw the rainbow but couldn’t see the extra one. About that time granddaughter-in-law Sarah texted that she and Nathaniel were driving nearby. She wondered if I could see the rainbow they were seeing. The heavens certainly got our attention at that time!

The second rainbow is more visible down low, near the top of the tree.

  5. Wow that’s amazing and lucky you got to capture it.
    Anyway, sure there were no green men sliding down that double rainbow too? The beginning of your story sounds quite promising on that regard and for a second you nearly had me and though I would see a giant alien spaceship on your picture 😉

Haha, I can assure you there were no little green men sliding down the rainbow at least none that revealed themselves to me. 😉 But I admit, a giant alien spaceship appearing in the photo would have made for a much more exciting story. Sometimes nature manages to look so unreal that it feels like something out of a science-fiction movie. I guess that’s why I had to capture the moment before it disappeared. Now you’ve got me curious though if you had spotted an alien spaceship in that picture, would you have been excited to investigate it with me, or would you have been the first one running in the opposite direction? 😄

        1. That sounds like a very sensible approach. I think being curious while staying alert is a good combination it shows you’re adventurous enough to explore the unknown, but wise enough not to rush into it. To be honest, I value that quality in people. The best friendships are often built the same way: with curiosity, trust, and taking the time to get to know each other rather than making quick assumptions. So if we ever do come across a mysterious spaceship, I think we’d make a pretty good team carefully investigating it together while keeping an eye out for those little green men. 😄

            1. Haha, then we’d definitely have an advantage! If any little green men showed up, you’d probably be the first to spot them with your favorite color being green. 😄 I think it would be fun getting to know each other better. You seem intelligent, friendly, and easy to talk to, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed our conversation so far. If you’re comfortable with it, maybe we could continue chatting on Google Chat sometime. It would give us a chance to communicate more easily and learn more about each other’s interests, experiences, and the stories behind the people we are. Who knows? We might discover we have more in common than just an interest in imaginary green aliens. 😊

              1. I’ve enjoyed chatting with you. My life will soon be in a great whirl, and I won’t have time to spend with others. Daughter Lise will be here for six weeks, and we will be constantly on the go. It will be exhilarating and exhausting.

        1. 😂 Running toward them? Now I’m starting to wonder who the brave one is and who the alien might actually be! 👽 If I ever spot a UFO, I know exactly who I’m calling. While I’m busy making an escape plan, you’ll be introducing yourself and asking them where they came from. 😂I’m glad I’ve officially recruited such a fearless co-investigator. Just promise me one thing if the little green men invite us onto their spaceship, you go first and let me know if it’s safe! 🚀😉

      1. I admire that ability to find photos. I sometimes know I have a photo, somewhere, on something, but somehow never seem to find what I’m looking for at the moment I need it.
