The photo shows the most dangerous spot in my garden after I cleared it. I warned myself to be alert, because the ground is terribly uneven. It was also covered by overgrown evergreens and big weeds that hid two electric wires. The shot was taken above and to one side of the waterfall.

I began at the pathway, using a step stool for stability while climbing over the low stone wall. My feet are not particularly big, but they felt enormous in that setting. I shuffled and tested my balance before pulling up the greenery to cut it with hand clippers, keeping the wires in sight.

Soon the red basket was full, but I wasn’t going to empty it. Instead, I threw the cuttings behind me, not caring where they landed. It was much easier to pick up the debris on level ground after the trimming was done. I laughed when I came back to the pathway and saw that I’d made a good semi-circle of cuttings. The burn pile is once again tall with highly combustible cuttings.

Great job!

Getting things trimmed and tidied up is so satisfying. I like your garden. Lots of points of interest.

Thank you. I just try to keep the garden subdued. It wants to run wild.

I like your “helper” to get you up and down – that is helpful, plus you do floor exercises, so that would help give you flexibility out in the garden too.

I think I’m doing well, but I mustn’t be complacent.

No, never do that … look at me tripping over the dustpan, in plain view, last Fall. It sure wasn’t very smart of me and I am very lucky I only slammed my knee onto the floor and not my head into the dresser as I fell hard and I saw stars that day.

Nothing was broken, so it wasn’t a lucky break.

Yes, I’m happy I didn’t break anything, but my knee took a beating and I will lose a toenail. I have no idea how my toe hit the floor, but that nail got bruised and is slowly growing out.

I am glad you were safe. we recently stayed at a lovely Airbnb with a flagstone patio. The stones were uneven but none of them were loose, and nothing to hold onto but our canes. i have long ago learned to watch my feet when I walk, or pay the price.

I pushed one more day and finished the evergreen trimming. Now other things look ragged.

Thank you. I’m beginning to breathe easier. The garden really plotted mischief while I was enjoying Lise’s visit. Daughter Kate is coming soon, but only for a week.

I sympathize with “terribly uneven ground.” My weeding is terribly overdue, on top of things.

It is hard to be safe gardening sometimes. It was good to know you are being careful.
I put weeds in 5 gallon buckets or depending on location, I toss them over my shoulder or fling them into the yard so Bruce can run them over with the mower.
