Daughter Lise and I have stayed at home all day for only one or two days of her three-week visit. It is so much fun to see people, run errands, take the garbage to the dump, and shop. She has taken me to a doctor’s appointment and dropped off eyeglasses to have changes made. The weather has veered from our having to keep pipes from freezing to being able to wear sandals outside. We’ve eaten Mexican food, sushi, hamburgers, barbecue sandwiches, and Southern food. So far we’ve visited with neighbors Shawn, Joyce, and Cindy, as well as former neighbors Connie and Marla.
Taking a used car for a drive was also an exciting event. My car should be replaced, though not during this visit. I was concerned that the car would not fit in the garage, so the two salesmen said we should drive it home and try it. Lise put it in the garage, and then I took a turn. That was enough for one day. They showed me another vehicle that had just been taken in, and that one had more promise, being a little smaller than the first one. We’ll look again during Lise’s summer visit.
The latest food photo shows our sharing a dish of rum-cherry ice cream at Jukebox Junction.

While wandering in Walmart, we spotted a small battery-powered lamp that is recharged with a USB cable. Remembering how much I’ve enjoyed a small fan with that setup, I bought one. We found others on line, and I bought one for the computer table in the living room. It is inexpensive and totally portable, not needing to be recharged very often.

While Lise had a meeting with people from Norway and Denmark, I noticed that it was snowing. Lise wouldn’t want to miss that and would be able to swivel her chair to look out the window. I wrote a four-letter note and quietly opened the door to slip it on the table for her. At that moment, she said she had just hung up and could go outside to see the snow. Timing is everything!

You guys look so happy!! ♥♥

I love those lamps! There was one on our table at a restaurant one visit and I liked it so much, Randy ordered 2 of them. One on my side table in the living room, and one on my bedside table. They are so convenient. It is wonderful you are having so much time to enjoy doing things!

Lise moved one of the new USB lamps to the guest room, and she’s sleeping in that room now until she goes home.

I loved your whirlwind of activities with your daughter. Your description of getting a car into the garage grabbed my attention. We all search for different things when we look for a vehicle. Good luck with getting a replacement. Enjoy the remainder of the visit with your daughter. So love to see happy and smiling faces. Have a great weekend. oxox

Yes, time always flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? At least you got to spend more time together than last time at Thanksgiving when Lise had her big project going on. I would have that dilemma regarding the car as well. My car, a Buick LaCrosse fits into the one-car garage, but there isn’t a whole lot of room on either side to get in/out and the yard equipment is at the front of the car.

The two salesmen suggested we take the car home to see how it fit in the garage!

That’s a good idea and I would have to do that if I went any larger than my car. I hope to have my car for a long time yet (16 years old and 14,549 miles). I’d have zero room in the garage then. When I had the Regal, it had an issue toward the end with the brake light switch. I’d park the car in the garage and next time I went to use it, the battery was dead. I had to have someone come and squeeze past the shelving units to get to the front of the car and the guy the shop sent probably was about as thin/same build as your David – anyone else could not have squeezed between the car and those shelving units plus tote the portable battery jumper.

Your garage is small!! Lise says mine is normal, but my present car fills it up.

Yes, it is – I probably should not have put the shelving in there. They are Sterlite heavy duty shelving units, so they hold a lot of yard tools and yard ornaments, etc., but not good for other reason. Years ago, while pulling out the garage, a small patch of ice, made me skid sideways and nicked the side of the car. The porch is on one side, so I was favoring the right side while pulling out. Sigh.

Visiting time looks joyful from the photographs and your accompanying words. The ice cream looks yummy. My sister-in-law comes in from Utah several times a year to see her Mom and visit with family. We pack a lot of fun game times and eating together into those days. We also had sandal weather, two days of it, and the next day gigantic snowflakes fell and coated the grass. I appreciated the warm preview of Spring.
