Once in a while, not every Sunday, our pastor will throw out a question during the sermon. He usually gets responses, but this time after his question about baptism, he said, “I can’t hear you.”
A split second later the congregation burst out laughing when he said, “Quick answers. Shorter sermon.”
He keeps us focused!
Love a good sense of humor!

Sounds like a great pastor! Turns sitting in a pew into participation…..I like that.

I like that kind of pew participation. I participated from the organ bench for 25 years, so I have a benchmark for measurement.

If our pastor asks a question our congregation always kind of gets that deer in the headlight look. My sons used to quietly whisper, “Don’t make eye contact.” LOL

Anne,
I enjoy it when the speaker interacts and expects answers from the congregation. Sometimes I get embarrassed if they call on someone specific from the congregation to pray- I am often praying he doesn’t call me.
But an interactive pastor is good and I think this particular pastor shows that his heart is in his job and he loves his folk.

Pastors with a good sense of humor seem to have an aliveness about them. You are right. It is refreshing.
