Misers buy things on sale. Misers also use up a product before opening the replacement one. I have a double whammy now in the bathroom, because I bought two things before Christmas and have now opened them. There is Sugar Plum air freshener, which conjures up Christmas treats. The spray is almost sickeningly sweet. This comes at a time when I should be thinking of clean scents of spring rain and summer flowers.
The new body wash is titled “Mystical Wonderland”. There is a fancy snowflake on the label, but that was not a clue. I have never intentionally sniffed a snowflake. Want to guess what the main smell is in Mystical Wonderland? It’s peppermint! You might as well laugh with me, since I could very well do it again and have out-of-date bathroom scents all year long.
We do have up-to-date rain photos. It rained for days, and when a heavy shower poured on the house, Nathaniel wondered what the creek was like. We don’t often see it just after a shower, so we piled in the car to go look. When we pulled in the firehouse lot, Nathaniel asked if we had an umbrella in the car. We didn’t. He wasn’t going to let a little rain deter him, so he got out with us to stand on the banks of Jonathan creek. The creek was muddy and high.
I suggested we check the Pigeon River in Clyde. The water was high but nowhere near overflowing the banks. John said we’d look at Richland Creek on the way home. That’s the stream that runs beside the rec center in town. Despite the light rain, we walked to the curve in the stream and saw one bench dipping its toes in the water. We were chilled and happy to get back in the warm car.

Me too. Rain,rain,rain.

Nathaniel seems impervious to the rain while you’d think John has his own personal little rain cloud.. I’d feel very cheated if I bought Mystical Wonderland with a snowflake picture and all I got was peppermint. I would have wanted something purple and fruity like a spiced plum.
I hope your rain stops soon so the bench doesn’t get covered.

Nathaniel never paid much attention to the weather. The sugar plum can is purple and fruity. Mystical Wonderland is gray and white. The rain is still falling. Monday might be nice. How has your weather been?

We’ve had about ten days of sunshine without warmth but yesterday was lovely all day coming on to rain about 4.00 pm.. The forecast is nice for the week with rain next weekend.

The overflowing stream( creek) is beautiful- I would be tempted to put my feet in as i would back home. I think Nathaniel looks forward to being outdoors perhaps because his job keeps him inside all day. If there was rain, I would be outside too. i am glad you are having all these outings and rain days, fun days.

Your feet might scream if you put them in our creek. It’s cold here, and much of the water is from mountain springs. The last time I waded in a stream, my bones ached for an hour.

Mountain water is cold.

You are right! Mountain water never really warms up until it goes lower.

Yeasr ago we went to a swiming hole in Fla. called Blue Springs ( I think). The water was so cold you cold not comfortably put your feet in. It took some time to actually get in to swim. It was so clear and deep scuba divers could be seen down below.

That sounds like an exciting adventure. I’d love to see something like that, but I wouldn’t want to be that cold in the water.

The grass has become much greener since all the rain started.

That Creek looks like it is really raging. Nathaniel doesn’t mind a little rain – John looks a tad miserable under his hood! But everyone is enjoying an outing after days of rain.

More and more I am looking forward to that time … a few months ago Robb said we’ll be in business at least a couple more years, then a week or so ago he said three years. Last weekend he told me to get with the computer guy and order all new equipment, including Timeslips (versio 2018 … we’re using version 2005 – uh oh … Linda has some catching up to do).

That was one wet but happy outing and you saw a lot of nature’s strength and beauty too.
Nathaniel makes me smile, it looks as if the rain left him alone.

Three inches of rain up to Friday. Rain began again yesterday and has yet to cease. Our spillways spill, our creeks do rise, we’re all starting to wish, for the sun in our eyes. Buds are beginning to pop out on the giant Maple tree, looking like red popcorn. Strong wind forecast for later today as a cold front dips down from the north.

Lots of rain here in PA, too. And some snow and ice as well. Those creeks look high and muddy!
I had to laugh when I read about your bathroom scents. I wondered what you were referring to when I read the title of the post! 🙂

Our creeks were impressive as the water rushed through the valley. In Asheville today we saw the French Broad River overflowing its banks. I wouldn’t call it flooding, but it wouldn’t have taken much more to make a mess. Bright sunshine today is quite a contrast to last week’s weather.

I have often bought seasonal soaps or candles on sale and kept them until the next year. The trick is not to forget you have them. I have a gingerbread candle I used for 3 Christmases. The only problem was that it smelled so good I swear I gained weight. I know for sure I craved gingerbread. I am longing for lilac and rose scents right now. We started getting the rain overnight. Our weather will be crappy for the next few days but no snowstorms. Unlike Nathaniel, I wear coats/sweaters much of the year. My blood pressure runs low and I get cold even when it’s 85 degrees out.

Like you, I have bought seasonal things to bring out the next year. The trouble was, I didn’t realize the air freshener and body wash would have such a holiday smell.
That’s amusing that the gingerbread candle affected your life! I hope there aren’t chocolate candles to tempt me.
Low blood pressure worked in my favor. John was always warm in the house, while I was freezing. Now that his blood pressure is lower, we agree on the setting of the thermostat.

I have (or had) a chocolate scented candle. Do not buy one. You crave hot chocolate all the time.

Getting out on those rainy days helps with getting stir crazy. We are in low country in South Carolina currently and it’s rained the entire time we’ve been here, except for a slight respite long enough to do a quick tour of Charleston yesterday. I’ve worked on a lot of “inside” projects, though. Sounds like this was a happy rainy day!

My scents hardly ever match the season, I use what I like and don’t feel bad about it! Say, I have a technical question for you. Why can’t I like posts on my iPad, even when I’m signed in? I turned everything off and logged back in, sometimes it works and sometimes not.
